UCL IEDE is hiring a Research Assistant/ Research Associate in Soundscapes Indices.
The Soundscape Indices EU ERC project led by Professor Jian Kang aims to deliver ground-breaking research which will provide the underpinning science for soundscape in the field of built environment, with wider intellectual goals of moving from noise control to soundscape creation.
The postholder will work with the ERC and UCL teams to deliver high quality research and assist with the organisation of a range of field surveys and experiments. The postholder will assist with the preparation of progress and ethics reports and present the findings of research activity.
The post is funded for 3 years in the first instance, further funding to support the post may be available.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree in engineering, science, social science or medicine. Quantitative analytical skills with the ability to handle large data sets, have completed quantitative research and/or qualitative research projects.
For appointment at Grade 7 the postholder will have gained an independent research reputation and have a strong publication record. Extensive knowledge of relevant research techniques and methodologies, especially in soundscape is an essential requirement. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £30,316 - £31,967 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
