About the speaker:
Dr Farnaz Arefian leads the Silk Cities platform, a collaborative initiative concerned with knowledge exchange and the study of contemporary challenges of the urban transformation in cities in the Middle East and Central Asia, especially those located along the historic Silk Road that present historic urban characteristics.
About the network:
The ‘Culture, Heritage and Beyond’ Doctoral Network is coordinated by PhD students from the UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage. It aims to bring together researchers whose work considers issues related to the broader research fields of Culture and Heritage. The network acts as a platform to encourage wider collaboration between The Bartlett's departments and institutes with a particular interest in heritage.
The network aims to:
•Create a hub for discussion and new stimuli
•Network with other researchers
•Encourage collaborative publications
•Organise lectures with invited guests
The ‘Culture, Heritage and Beyond’ lecture series are an excellent opportunity to learn about the innovative research of a variety of interesting people. Providing a forum for advice, discussion and collaboration, the lectures promote the constructive dialogue between the various aspects of cultural and heritage studies.
All the lectures in this series are generously supported by the Bartlett Doctoral Initiative Fund that will assist the PhD Network to establish further connections with like-minded researchers, primarily within the Bartlett.
