Duties and Responsibilities

The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources has an exciting opportunity for a part time 0.4 FTE Finance Officer to manage the finances of our SEAHA Centre for Doctoral Training to manage all financial aspects of the Centre and the final grant reconciliation.

The Finance Officer will take the lead on the final grant reconciliation of over 50 accounts and report to funder. They will work closely with the SEAHA Centre Manager and the BSEER PhD Administrator. The post-holder should be successful at managing complex budgets, compiling data, and producing concise written financial reports.
 
The Centre is now in the final year of funding, with a new focus on increasing impact and legacy, and reconciling Centre finances. The Finance Officer will work closely with the SEAHA Centre Manager who provides overall administrative support and leads on increasing impact and legacy.
 
Post is funded through until 30 September 2022 in the first instance. Further funding to support the post may become available.

Key Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have experience of financial management of a complex research grant and may be a part of fully qualified accountant. They will have proven experience of analysing financial budgets and forecasts, and experience of formal reporting to stakeholders including project funders. They will have a high level of numeracy, with the ability to understand and interpret a variety of figures and statistics, and deliver accurately against operational deadlines.
 
This is a busy role, in a fast-paced environment, and the post holder is expected to be adaptable, quickly assimilate information and have strong use of initiative. The role requires interaction with many people both internal and external to UCL, therefore a professional attitude, willingness to help and ability to remain tactful and assertive are required in order to execute the duties outlined.
