Isadora Spillman-Schappell is the Cities Programme Manager at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP).
Isadora leads the work on the Council on Urban Initiatives, a partnership between UN-Habitat, LSE Cities and IIPP, advocating for the power of cities to promote systemic change to achieve the goal of the green, just, and healthy city focusing on their public value and spatial potential. Through her role, she also collaborates with the London Borough of Camden, exploring how public procurement can support mission-oriented innovation.
Previously, she served as a Program Associate at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, working on the policy plan to close the jails on Rikers Island. She also managed New York City’s transitional housing programs for people returning from jail and prison. Isadora holds an MPA in Innovation, Public Policy and Public from The UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose and a BA in Government from Wesleyan University.
