Lindsay Ewy is a student in the 2021-22 cohort of UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP)'s Master of Public Administration (MPA).
With a background in economics and finance, Lindsay spent the last decade supporting public sector agencies through legislative, organizational, and technology implementations. Her work has the ultimate theme of redesigning processes and services to better serve citizens and more actively engage employees. During her masters she has returned to ideas around economic growth and industrialization, which have led her to energy. Lindsay has been looking at ideas related to community-financed and run projects; the disconnect between capacity and access; and the energy transition as a form of community wealth building. Additional interests include how science funding works, and its role in planning along the entire innovation lifecycle, and how energy financing at the national and supranational levels highlights there is a need to address mindset and regulatory barriers to spending, rather than a lack of available funds. These are questions, and ways we think about transitioning systems, that Lindsay hopes to continue to explore.
