Mark Bassett is a student in the 2021-22 cohort of UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP)'s Master of Public Administration (MPA).
Mark has over thirty years international experience of health systems strengthening at national, regional and local levels. He has worked for the NHS in England, NHS Overseas, UK Department of Health, Bupa Group and The World Bank Group. He continues as a consultant to the World Health Organisation, mostly on the topics of health financing and governance. Mark is experienced at working in places facing high political and economic challenges and has worked on extended assignments in places as diverse as Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, India, Ghana and, most recently, Sudan; as well as in the UK and a range of EU countries.
