IIPP and RSA team up with Alpbach Forum for mission-oriented innovation workshop
26 May 2017
UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose and the Royal Society for the arts, manufactures and commerce (RSA) will co-host an event at the European Forum Alpbach, Austria, on 28 August 2017.
The European Forum Alpbach is an interdisciplinary platform for science, politics, business and culture that seeks to address the relevant socio-political questions of our time. It connects international decision-makers from all sectors of society with an interested audience and committed young people.
The IIPP RSA workshop at the Forum will build on the work of IIPP on "mission-oriented innovation policies", bringing together representatives of global organisations interested in how innovation can be used to tackle grand challenges. IIPP is working with the RSA on a pilot project on the application of the mission-oriented agenda to the low carbon transition.
The workshop follows a special IIPP event in February 2017, hosted by the RSA in London, at which Mariana Mazzucato (IIPP Director), Jeffrey Sachs (Special Advisor to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres) and Carlota Perez (Honorary Professor, IIPP) discussed the challenges and opportunities for mission-oriented innovation policies in tackling the sustainable development goals. The event was followed by a roundtable with over 25 UK based organisations.
