Camila Idrovo, an expert on migration and the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region, currently serves as Practice Area Lead for Migration at the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF). She works with teams across LAC to design programmes that promote access to protection and sustainable livelihoods for migrants and displaced persons. Previously, she managed U.S. humanitarian assistant programmes as Political Assistant for Refugee Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá and advocated for the adoption of new malaria elimination technologies as Country Consultant for Global Health Strategies. Inspired by the work of Professor Mariana Mazzucato and the IIPP team in rethinking the role of government and applying new economic thinking, Camila aims to use this approach to break through the ideological politics on migration, reframing it as a driver of inclusive economic growth, confronting global inequality, and essential for a just energy transition. Camila holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and a Certificate in Global Displacement and Migration Studies from Georgetown University, as well as a Diploma in Sustainable Development and Human Rights from the UN-Mandated University for Peace.
