Thuy graduated from University of Dundee with B.Eng Hons in Civil Engineering, majored in Environmental Hydraulics (2010). Her B.Eng dissertation was on “Sustainable Civil Engineering”, particularly to work on the model of flocs formation and breakage processes which then could be applied to various marine and wastewater treatment processes. The project has been awarded as the best honour year project in the field of Hydraulics Engineering by Scottish hydraulics study group.
Thuy has also completed her MSc in Environment and Sustainable Technology at the University of Manchester (2011). Her MSc dissertation was on “Thin-film solar cell manufaturing” with the aim to discover a computational model to be applied for Designing a reactor used in Solar cell manufacturing.
After graduation, Thuy was back to Vietnam and worked as a research associate at Institute of Environmental Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. She took part in a number of projects which involves wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment; synthesis and application of Nano-metals in water treatment and air purification.
From September 2013, Thuy will join UCL ISR and work on “Sustainability Gap (SGAP) methodology project” with a focus on Marine resources involving marine biomass, ecosystem and water quality.
