Behaviour: The Climate & Sustainability Crises

9 December 2020

In October, UCL Grand Challenges (Office for the Vice-Provost Research) and the Global Engagement Office (Office for the Vice-Provost International) hosted a two-week virtual conference, 'Beyond Boundaries: Realising the UN Sustainable Development Goals', exploring the role of universities in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference aimed to understand universities’ approaches to the SDGs and how we can move forward to develop cross-disciplinary and beyond-boundary research and activities with our partners to address the goals.

Human behaviour lies at the heart of the causes of the environmental degradation and climate change that has led to the current crisis. CBC Director, Professor Susan Michie, chaired the panel discussion Behaviour: 'The Climate & Sustainability Crises'. The panel discussion considered the contribution of behavioural & social sciences to addressing the climate & sustainability crises facing the world, and demonstrate the contribution of interdisciplinary and international collaborations in bringing new perspectives, research and translational methods and knowledge.
