What you will learn

The objective of this course is to examine the principal design features which determine the heat transfer capability of a fermenter and the consequences of process changes on the fermenter performance. The heat transfer operations of interest will include:

  • heating the fermenter and contents for sterilisation
  • cooling the contents to required operating temperature
  • control of fermenter temperature to desired set point
