Background: Watch Your Words
Language is powerful, and shifts regularly to adapt to current events, trends, and needs. Words used in the past may no longer be the right ones to use today and you might learn that they’re non inclusive or harmful to others.
Actions: Watch Your Words
1) Be aware and respectful of pronouns and gendered language. Lead by example in how you use (or don’t use) both.
2) Create a safe space for people in our workplace to ask questions and discuss problematic language.
3) Be aware that some terms you think are innocuous may be harmful to others. If you make a mistake, apologize.
