Applications now open: 3 x Research Fellows – Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering

Funded by an EPSRC “Frontier Engineering” Centre grant, The Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering (CNIE) has three opportunities for exceptionally creative and experienced postdoctoral research associates, in particular relating to the application areas of nature-inspired process intensification, hierarchically structured catalysts, fluidization and nature-inspired functional materials for applications relating to sustainable manufacturing, energy, environment and healthcare. 

The CNIE utilises a unique, systematic methodology, which encompasses the application of fundamental mechanisms underpinning desirable features in biological and other natural systems (like scalability, robustness and efficiency) to solve challenging engineering problems. 

More details and examples of current projects can be found on the CNIE website. Most projects are collaborative and involve researchers from different disciplines. We expect candidates to be outward looking, with strong lateral thinking skills, and the proven ability to work across traditional disciplines.
