Dr Han Wu wins Technical Professional of the Year in Research 2024

Congratulations were extended to Dr Han Wu, Research Laboratories Manager at UCL Chemical Engineering, who was awarded the UCL Technical Professional of the Year Award in Research at the UCL Technical Staff Showcase 2024.

On Friday, 12th April, the UCL Technical Staff Showcase 2024 event showcased the extensive technical contributions made by staff to UCL research, teaching, and innovation.

Exhibition stands were arranged in the UCL Cloisters, Jeremy Bentham Room, and Haldane room, displaying the work of UCL technical staff, and talks were held throughout the day in the Gustave Tuck Lecture theatre.

At the event, technical staff from UCL Chemical Engineering, the Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering (CNIE) and the Electrochemical Innovation Lab (EIL) showcased exhibits demonstrating the department's work and capabilities. The technical staff included Toby Neville, Dr Han Wu, Dr Barry Reid, Dr Francesco Iacoviello, and Dr Qingning Yang.

The showcase concluded with recorded messages from senior sponsors, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar, Dean of Population Health, and Prof Nigel Titchener-Hooker, Dean of Engineering. An awards ceremony followed, where UCL Department of Chemical Engineering staff, Dr Han Wu, Research Laboratories Manager, and Toby Neville, Technical Operations Manager, were nominated in the following categories:
 

• Dr Han Wu - Research category
• Toby Neville - General Workshop and Laboratory Services category

Dr Han Wu was subsequently awarded the UCL Technical Professional of the Year Award in Research at the UCL Technical Staff Showcase 2024.

Prof Marc-Olivier Coppens, Ramsay Memorial Professor in Chemical Engineering, Vice Dean (Interdisciplinarity Innovation), remarked, "Many congratulations to Dr Han Wu for this so well-deserved award, for her outstanding work and tireless service to the Department and UCL."
