Is this event for me?
This event is open to everyone but may be of particular interest to data journalists, data editors, graphics editors, visuals specialists, digital content editors, multimedia producers and data design professionals.
Event summary
Climate data is often presented in a very functional, scientific way. It has also been made beautiful and visually engaging by artists and designers.
But neither of these approaches fully meet the needs of science communicators seeking to explain climate change.
The event will showcase the results of the UCL Climate Action Unit’s project to bridge the gaps between scientists, data visualisation experts and journalists.
We will showcase three new metrics produced with the help of design agencies Data4Change and Accurat.
This event will also:
- share lessons learned when bringing together climate and design expertise
- help data visualisation professionals rethink the use of metrics in climate change reporting
Accessibility
This event will be held online via Zoom. If you have any accessibility requirements or concerns about your ability to participate in this event, we will endeavour to help. To discuss this, please contact the event Project Manager (Freya Roberts) by sending an email to climateactionunit@ucl.ac.uk.
