Weekend 6

Assembly members met on 11 and 12 December for the sixth, and final, weekend of the Citizens' Assembly. The aim of the weekend was to develop a set of draft recommendations to strengthen democracy in the UK. Assembly members then voted on these draft recommendations after the weekend concluded.

On this page, you can find the agenda for the final weekend and links to videos of the plenary sessions. Assembly members received two documents before the weekend:

• An updated glossary of terms
• A briefing paper setting out early drafts of the recommendations and offering commentary on them

Assembly members were also asked to choose an adjective that encapsulated how they felt democracy was working in the UK today. We provided a list of balanced adjectives for this task. Members were also able to suggest additional adjectives. These formed the basis for statements crafted by small groups of members which summed up how they felt about democracy in the UK today. 

Assembly members spent much of the weekend discussing the issues among themselves in small groups. Please note that recordings of these small-group discussions are not publicly available, so that members can feel uninhibited in expressing their ideas.
