The Global Report on Sanitation and Wastewater Management in Cities and Human Settlements is published and was launched at the 2nd UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. It is an in-depth study focusing on 18 cities, five of which are explored in detail. It has been produced by a consortium led by WSUP, with GSMA ESAWAS regulators association Aguaconsult Ltd. 2iE-Institut International d'Ingénierie de l'Eau et de l'Environnement, UCL, ThuyLoi University. Supported by Agence Française de Développement and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Professor Parikh said ‘We are thrilled to be influencing global practice and policy on improved wastewater management which is a pressing need but often a neglected topic as most of the emphasis seems to be on toilets rather than the entire sanitation value chain management. I would like to thank UCLC for their support on this venture, lead partners WSUP and funders UNHABITAT, AFD and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.”
