Galton's hyperscope

Galton invented this hyperscope (or persicope) to enable him to see over or round the heads of crowds. He was famous for his mechanical ingenuity and resourcefulness.

Made in 1897 from scrap wood, brown paper and containing two reflective mirrors at a 45°angle.

First used on the occasion of Queen Victoria's second jubilee.
