Grant Museum Family Event: Bring a Fossil Back to Life

This event will be held in the Object-Based Learning Lab on the UCL Bloomsbury campus.
Join us in the Object-Based Learning Lab and learn all about fossils, before bringing them back to life through drawing, collage and green screen. With the Grant Museum of Zoology currently closed, UCL Museums are hosting a short series of workshops all about fossils around UCL Bloomsbury campus. This October Half-Term we will be inside the UCL Object-Based Learning Lab (OBLL).
Let our object-based learning experts show you what your senses can teach you whilst handling a fossil. Put your skills into practice and see if you can find hidden Ammonites and Belemnites amongst our collection from the Dorset Coast. Then, imagine how these fossils looked as living creatures, using our drawing supplies, collage kit, and green screen to bring them back to life!
Audience
This is a family-friendly workshop, recommended for ages 8+.
Location and Timings
Both sessions will be taking place in the Object-Based Learning Lab on the UCL Bloomsbury campus.*

- Session 2 - 12:30-14:00
*Please note: the OBLL houses a teaching collection including scientific instruments, as well as animal and human remains. If you have any questions, please direct these to George via g.paris@ucl.ac.uk.
Booking
Booking is required for this event. Please reserve yourself a space at one of the available sessions by booking one ticket per family group on our Eventbrite page.
Access
The Object-Based Learning Laboratory is a ground-floor space (if entering UCL from Gower Street) with step-free access, wheelchair-friendly toilets and both gendered/non-gendered toilets on the same floor. A Changing Places toilet facility is also on site within 5 minutes.

We are located in Bloomsbury, in the heart of central London. The nearest tube stations are Euston Square (Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith & City), Goodge Street (Northern Line), Warren Street (Victoria Line), and buses 18, 30, 73, 134 and 205 stop 3-5 minutea away on Euston Road.
