Make Your Own Shabti Friend
13:00 - 17:00
The ancient Egyptians believed that they had to do manual labour in the afterlife, just as they did during life. Shabtis are small figures which were placed in tombs to magically perform these tasks on behalf of the deceased.
Join facilitator Katie Bironneau to make your own shabti friend with air dry clay. Draw inspiration from the Museum’s collection of real shabti figurines and unleash your creativity, personalising your own with the tools and accessories of your choice.
Suitable for children of all ages, making it a perfect activity for families looking to learn and create together.
This fun activity is part of the Festival of Stuff: Saturday Extravaganza - a day of free activity on Malet Place (outside the Petrie Museum) bursting with making madness, demonstrations and making stations run by the Institute of Making.
Access
There is step free access to the Petrie Museum via the lift in the UCL Science Library and the majority of the Museum is accessible.
