UCL Industry Partner Event with Data Science and Machine Learning Career Fair

Our yearly Fall Partner Event is now a double feature!

The Centre for Data Intensive Science and Industry (DISI) Fall Event will take place on UCL’s Bloomsbury campus on Thursday 24th October, from 15h. It is a double feature with two concurrent events! 

Gain access to a diverse and highly skilled pool of candidates for your data-intensive and technology-driven goals including students from the the DISI Centre's wold-leading Data Intensive Science programme as well as UCL’s world-class Computer Science Department, Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Financial Computing and Information Management for Business.  

DISI Centre Industry Partner Fall Event 

It is an opportunity for you to: 

  • Pitch near-term 6-month placements.
  • Pitch group projects to run in Jan – April of 2025.
  • Network with our talented data-intensive science PhD students.

UCL IT & Technology Fair 

Following the success of last years Fall Even/Data Science Career Fair, we have teamed up with UCL Careers to zone a Data Science & Machine Learning area within the UCL IT & Technology Career Fair.  

  • Last year, this Fair attracted over 400 students in their final and penultimate year searching for data science, machine learning, programming, cyber security, telecommunications, or other technology careers across diverse sectors. 
  • Exhibit roll-ups or promotional materials with a booth in the fair.
  • All DISI Centre Industry Partners have access to a reduced exhibition fee.

We invite all levels of participation: Observer, Project Host, or Exhibitor.

  • Participant: Attend either event and participate in networking opportunities.
    • Come network at the DISI Centre Industry Partner Event even if you don't have a project to pitch.
    • Check out the action at the UCL IT & Technology Fair without exhibiting.
  • Project Host: Pitch an Industry Placement or Group Project to PhD students at the DISI Centre Industry Partner Event:
    • 12 PhD students in their 3rd year are ready to take on industry placements in the near future.
    • The 2024 cohort is ready to take on 3-4 group projects. Register before the slots fill up! 
    • Automatic registration as a participant in the IT & Technology Fair.
  • Exhibitor: Exhibit at the IT & Technology Fair (SME rate for all DISI Industry Partners)
    • Availability is limited!
    • Reduced rate available for DISI Centre Industry Partners.
    • Automatic registration as a participant in the DISI Centre Industry Partner Event.

Additional Information - DISI Industry Partner Fall Event

Group Projects: 8th edition 

  • Engage our first-year PhD students for short-term, innovative projects. Information.
  • Benefit from teams skilled in data-intensive techniques without direct costs. 
  • 3-4 1st year PhD’s working 2 days a week from Jan – April on your data! 

Industry Placements: Over 40 successfully completed 

  • Offer immersive six-month placements to our advanced PhD students. Information.
  • Gain top-tier, dynamic talent at competitive rates tackling your projects and enhancing recruitment pipelines. 
  • 12 qualified 3rd-4th year PhDs are ready to join your team! 

Student Spotlight Talks

  • 2-minute talks from our 2nd year PhD students.
  • Learn about their PhD research project in languge that is understandable to all attendees.

DISI Centre PhDs and Academic Networking

  • Will have a separate area for DISI student networking apart from the Career Fair. This maintains the intimate setting that has fostered the great relationship between our partners and students over the last 7 years.
  • The networking space is open to Project Hosts and Participants.

    • Open to registered Partipants and Project Hosts.

Note the IT & Technology Fair begins at 16h allowing in a nearby room so attendees to participate in both.

IT & Technology Fair

  • The fiar is two days and on Day 2 featuring a zoning area for Data Science & Machine Learning.
  • Please contact Dr. Gabriel Facini for the form to have a booth for rollups and promotional material. 
    • We have secured the SME rate (£178.50) for all DISI Centre partners.
    • If you want to pitch a DISI project and host a booth at the fair, please make sure you bring enough people to cover both as the events overlap. 
  • This event will be on campus, close to where the DISI Centre Partner Event.
  • If you want to participate in the Fair WITHOUT exhibiting, please register via Eventbrite (for security reasons)
  • Space is limited, so please do not delay in registering.
