Emergency Funding/Financial Support
Postgraduate Research students in need of short-term emergency funding/financial support can apply to the following funding schemes, if eligible.
Doctoral School Fellowship Fund
The Doctoral School Fellowship supports research students who, due to unforeseen circumstances, have their sponsorship interrupted or completely withdrawn.

Emergency Loans
Limited cash loans of up to £250 are available to students who have experienced a delay in their normal funding being paid.

UCL Financial Assistance Fund
The Financial Assistance Fund for Postgraduate Research Students (FAF-PGR) aims to support research students who are in unexpected financial need. This is a one-off payment to support living costs only e.g., inability to meet essential costs such as rent, food and utility bills – along with unexpected one-off events.

Sarah Douglas Hardship Fund
The Sarah Douglas Hardship Fund is administered through the Students’ Union UCL Advice Service. The aim of the fund is to help UCL students who are experiencing financial difficulty and have no other form of support available, including further support from UCL student hardship funds.
