At the moment, computer models looking at how different dementias progress have included broad cognitive tests such as Mino Mental State Exam (MMSE) to compare to other measures of decline, such as brain atrophy.
The work going on at the UCL Department of Computer Science involves using individual test scores of different cognitive skills, to see if a computer can learn about the particular patterns of disease progression in individuals with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).
