Global partnerships: academic visit to South Korea.

23 July 2019

Biomaterials staff and Korean colleagues

Staff members from our Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering department have been in South Korea this month, as part of the on-going UCL-Eastman Korea Dental Medicine Innovation Centre collaboration.

Professor Jonathan Knowles, Associate Professor David Chau and Dr Linh Nguyen visited partners, researchers and students at Dankook University for two weeks of knowledge-exchange and discussion.

The partnership seeks to develop medical technologies in the field of oral and dental regeneration and reconstruction including mandible, teeth and chin.

Professor Knowles said: “Our work with colleagues at Dankook is built on similar backgrounds and fields of knowledge for new research collaboration and commercialisation.

“By sharing knowledge via active participation in different scientific programs and seminars, we will acquire valuable insights into the global requirements for the development of oral and dental regeneration and reconstruction.”

The collaboration also aims to produce high quality science, technology and innovation capabilities and ultimately to produce intellectual property that can be licensed and commercialised.
