Professor Máire O'Neill OBE FREng, Chair of the Academy’s Research Committee, said:
“When research engineers partner with industry the innovations can be truly transformative. The wide range of research being undertaken by our latest Research Chairs and Senior Research Fellows illustrate this sort of promise and I wish them all the very best.”
The highly regarded five-year positions are jointly sponsored by an industrial partner. Recipients of these awards will spearhead the formation of world-leading research groups within their respective engineering disciplines. Dr Ritchie said he was delighted to hear the news.
“I was thrilled to be awarded this Fellowship, it will enable a step change in research outputs and allow me to grow a world-class team here at UCL. This Research Fellowship opportunity will make a massive difference to my research trajectory and impact. I have already been able to recruit new PhDs to start developing both hardware and software solutions in the area of advancing Intelligent Multi-Function Radio Frequency devices. "
