At the conference held in Belfast, Dr Odedeyi’s presentation, titled "Developing Technology Solutions to Achieve Net Zero Agriculture in the Global South," focused on the critical need for a context-specific approach to achieving net-zero agriculture. He emphasised the potential of innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), drone and satellite imagery, and artificial intelligence to transform agricultural practices in the region.

Drawing from his research in yield modelling and crop quality measurement, Dr Odedeyi showcased how these tools can empower farmers with accessible, climate-smart solutions that cater to the Global South's unique socio-economic and environmental conditions. He also highlighted the significance of capacity building and technology transfer, stressing the importance of ensuring these innovations are sustainable and effectively integrated.

Dr Odedeyi’s research underscores the role of cutting-edge technology in reducing emissions and enhancing the resilience of vulnerable agricultural systems, aligning with the broader mission of the EPSRC eFutures Network+ to support high-quality research and foster industry-academia collaborations to address global challenges.

Dr Odedeyi, a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow, is working on a 5-year project to develop technology solutions that predict and improve crop yields, focusing on sustainable cassava production in sub-Saharan Africa. His research uses ICT and IoT to provide farmers with data-driven tools for better resource management and post-harvest techniques, aiming to support sustainable agriculture and global food security. He is part of the Information and Communications Systems (ICE) group, with expertise in ultrawideband circuit design, MMICs, narrowband filters, and RF-spectroscopic instruments for food quality assessment.
