From Fixing Bikes to the Royal Academy: IEP Student George’s Scholarship Success by UCL Engineering

The scholarship is designed to reward undergraduate engineering students who show leadership potential, giving them funding towards skills development costs, plus access to a peer to peer network and a senior industry mentor.

This flagship RAEng award is a fantastic achievement for George, who explains in the video below how his initial interest in engineering was sparked by broken bicycles. George also talks about the Integrated Engineering Programme elements of his course, and what receiving the scholarship means to him. Most pertinently, George explains how growing up, he lacked identifiable engineering role models. His aim, therefore, is to become an advocate for STEM subjects, and inspire other people from his community to both study engineering, and to know an engineering career is an achievable goal for them.
