The HPV vaccination crisis in Denmark

Abstract:

Since 2013, an increasing number of suspected adverse effects to the HPV vaccine have been reported in Denmark, resulting in massive media coverage and a dramatic decrease in HPV vaccinations. Since only a small fraction of vaccinated girls experiences suspected adverse events following vaccination, the HPV vaccination in itself cannot be a sufficient cause for the reported symptoms. Hence, other factors also have to play a part in the path leading to the reported symptoms. In the PhD project that will be presented at the lunch seminar we are investigating different health related factors prior to HPV vaccination and the risk of suspected adverse effects.
