Dementia Hero Award for Research 2021: EMBED-Care COVID
4 June 2021
The Alzheimer’s Society’s annual Dementia Hero Awards (2021) showcased the stories of people doing outstanding things during the pandemic – our dementia heroes.
The Dementia Hero Award for Research aims to recognise an individual or group of researchers who have undertaken exceptional dementia research in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s with great pleasure to announce that the Dementia Hero Award for Research was awarded to EMBED-Care COVID team, led by Dr Nathan Davies (UCL) and Dr Nuriye Kupeli (UCL). The team developed a decision aid to support family carers of people living with dementia who were at risk or developed COVID-19. EMBED-Care COVID was an extension of EMBED-Care programme aimed at creating new ways to provide end-of-life care for people living with dementia. The resulting decision aid is now being widely used throughout the NHS and part of NHS England COVID-19 dementia guidance.
