This is a one-year studentship for students undertaking the MSc Social Epidemiology programme.
The award will commence in September 2024 and the studentship will consist of £2,500 towards tuition fees. The recipient will be expected to secure the remaining part of their tuition fees and to cover their living costs from elsewhere.
Eligibility requirements
Candidates can originate from any country however they must be intending to enrol on the MSc in Social Epidemiology programme on a full or part-time basis; and by the studentship application deadline, they must have received an offer of study for this programme.
If you are interested in applying for the scholarship, it is recommended that you submit your application to the MSc programme at least six weeks before the scholarship deadline to enable your application to be considered by UCL.
Selection criteria
Award of the studentship will be made on the basis of experience, qualifications and future academic potential, which will be assessed by an applicant’s curriculum vitae and personal statement. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to write a 2000-word essay on a pre-defined public health topic. The studentship will be awarded upon the recommendation of an academic selection panel.
Value and duration
The value of the award is £2,500. Awards are tenable for one year of full-time study for the session 2024/25.
Terms and conditions of the award
- The studentship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards or bursaries.
- The studentship cannot be transferred to another institution, nor deferred to a later year.
- The studentship payments will only be made if the recipient is fully enrolled in the above-mentionedprogramme at UCL.
- All awards are subject to the provisions of the General Regulations for Scholarships, Awards, Bursaries, Prizes and medals.

Studentship Application deadline:
The deadline for studentship applications is 1pm (British Summer Time BST) on Friday 28th June 2024. We are unable to consider any applications submitted after this deadline.
Shortlisted candidates
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by early July (full information will be provided). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to write a 2000-word essay on a pre-defined public health topic. The deadline to submit the essay will be 1 pm (BST) on Monday 22nd July 2024.
Important notes
Late or incomplete studentship applications will not be accepted. Your application must be complete in order to be considered for the studentship. We are unfortunately not able to inform you if your application is incomplete, nor contact you for missing documents.
Notification of results
The successful applicant will be contacted by 12th August 2024. If you have not heard from us by this date, we regret to say that your application has been unsuccessful.
