Your time at UCL

Why did you choose to study at UCL?
I chose UCL because it is a world-renowned university for research and its reputation of being global, which allowed me to meet people from all over the world and benefiting from the diversity of thought and knowledge.

What’s your favourite / most memorable memory of your time as a UCL student?
My most memorable memory is taking the cable car from ExCel (the exam venue) to Greenwich with half of my cohort after our last exam!

Life after UCL

What did you do in the year immediately after graduating?
Since graduating, I went on to study a masters in Management.

What is your current role? What’s a regular day like?
My current role involves delivering innovative solutions to address data and management information challenges, developing quality standards and validation techniques to provide technical assurance and advice on key data considerations.  A regular day involves helping clients anticipate, manage and mitigate risks around IT systems, providing support and consulting on client’s IT security and controls.

How has your UCL education contributed to your success?
Through my degree, I developed quantitative data-analysis skills, which I now apply to my job in technology risk. More importantly, UCL has taught me critical thinking when faced with unfamiliar problems, thus preparing for my work as a consultant.

Alumni wisdom

What advice would you give to your past self when you were a student?
Take every opportunity you can. I regretted not applying for the Q-Step internship, and missed out on the opportunity to acquire valuable real-world experience in social data analysis.

What advice do you have for current students?
Ask lots of questions!

Describe UCL in 3 words:
Diverse, global and enriching

What is your lasting impression of UCL?
It is a place where knowledge flows and support is never ending, it is a home that you can always come back to.
