The Security team based in Foster Court, Malet Place manages lost property enquiries for the main UCL Campus.
Reporting lost property
Registering property as lost will offer the best chance of identifying the owner.
To report your lost item, please enter your details and a description of your missing item through our online form. The form connects directly to our lost property management system. Ensure you include as much information as possible about your missing item.
You will need:
- Name
- Phone number
- Item title
- Additional information (eg background image on phone, something inside your wallet)
- Date and approximate time the item was lost
- Where it was lost (which building, room, lecture theatre or library)
You will receive a confirmation email containing 6-digit unique reference number.

NB: It can take time for some items that have been found to reach the security desk as arrangements for the transfer of property from buildings and departments can vary.
Please allow 2-working days from form submission before following up on your enquiry.
Claiming your property
Found property on the Bloomsbury campus can be collected from the security desk in Foster Court, Malet Place Monday - Friday 07:00 - 19:00 providing ownership can be verified and identification produced (usually a UCL ID Card).
Exceptions are in place for the Bloomsbury Theatre, Bloomsbury Fitness Centre, The Cruciform Building, and One Pool Street. For more details see the sidebar (desktop) or bottom of the page if using a mobile device.
Found property
Please hand all found property to a building attendant, security officer or the office administrator.
If an item is of high value, please inform the Security team on 020 7679 0665 (UCL ext 30665) as soon as possible.
All spoiled/unhygienic items will be disposed of immediately such as:
- unhygienic clothing
- damp/wet towels
- food items
