The European Institute is hosting an evening of debate and discussion with leading academics and policy professionals on the challenges of Brexit, to celebrate the award of Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence status from the European Commission.

Titled 'Negotiating Brexit: Key Challenges Ahead', the event will see a number of experts on Britain and Europe discussing the key challenges in their areas of expertise, from migration and law to economics and foreign policy. Speakers include:
- Nathaniel Copsey, Head of Europe Research at the Foreign Office
- Amelia Hadfield, Director of the Centre for European Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University
- Piet Eeckhout, Professor of EU Law at UCL
- Jonathan Portes, Principal Research Fellow at the National Institute of Social and Economic Research and former Chief Economist at the Cabinet Office
The expert talks will last for around an hour, with a half hour of Q&A, followed by a reception.
The event will launch the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence status, which the European Institute has been awarded by the European Commission. The award recognises the Institute's key role in promoting research and
study on the EU and provides funding for new exciting new research
programmes in migration, sovereignty, legitimacy, LGBT rights, and
'democracy fatigue'.
