We are pleased to host a live Q&A with Prof Edith Hall and Dr Henry Stead about the publication of their new book 'A People's History of Classics: Class and Greco-Roman Antiquity in Britain and Ireland 1689 to 1939'.
Edith and Henry will discuss their book with Anthony Walker-Cook from UCL English Department, and they will then take questions from the audience.
The talk will be followed by drinks and further informal discussion. All are welcome but please book to attend.
This discussion is arranged by the Centre for Early Modern Exchanges, part of the Institute of Advanced Studies.
About the Speakers
Edith Hall
Professor at Classics Department, King's College London
Her original specialism was ancient Greek literature, but she has been trying to reconcile her interests in Classics and in Labour History ever since the 1984-5 Miners' Strike.
Henry Stead
Lecturer at School of Classics, University of St Andrews
His research interests are Roman poetry and drama and its reception in the modern world; Classical Reception Studies, especially with regard to social class and communism.
