Welcome to our new Honorary Researcher: Dr Kristijan Nikolić

Dr Kristijan Nikolić holds an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Zagreb and a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Vienna. He is a Senior Lecturer in the English Department of the University of Zagreb, where he teaches English and American cultures, audiovisual translation and localisation, both on undergraduate and MA levels. Kristijan also works as a freelance subtitler, predominantly for Netflix. He also taught audiovisual translation and localisation at Middlesex University London for four years. Kristijan was a member of the Executive Board of ESIST for a decade and the president of the founding president of the Croatian Association of Audiovisual Translators. His research interests include interlingual subtitling, subtitling quality, and working conditions of audiovisual translators in particular. He has published papers and book chapters on subtitling. Since 2017, he has been an Honorary Research Associate at UCL, being reappointed for the third time in February 2022 for another three-year tenure.
