The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) turned 30 years old in 2019 and UCL partnered with Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE), part of Just for Kids Law and The Foundling Museum, to host a day of talks and workshops celebrating young people across the globe.

Aimed at young people (Year 11 and up), researchers, activists, NGOs, policy makers and educators, the day both looked back at achievements in the field of children’s rights and looked forward, building on what is happening now.

The event, which is a partnership between UCL, Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE), part of Just for Kids Law, and The Foundling Museum, brought together world-leading academics, school pupils, youth workers, young artists and policymakers to examine the work that has been taken to improve children’s rights and what still needs to happen. It encomapssed topics involving food poverty, child exploitation and the impact of climate change through a programme of key note speakers and 23 workshops, some of which were run by young people.
