The main objective of the project is to develop a teaching method aimed at coaching AI professionals in responsible innovation. To this end, the project will involve professionals working in the field of AI as a means of developing and of testing the method.

The collaboration is expected to produce a novel approach to teaching ethical, responsible practice in AI development, including developing support networks between university and industry. The relevant professionals that might benefit from the responsible innovation training will be identified, their current state of knowledge on responsible innovation will me gauged.  The project will focus on creating a tangible, accessible and realistic teaching method that can created a long-term, sustainable change for fair AI development.

Outputs and Impact


  • A number of focus groups were run on AI and responsible innovation, asking participants about their expectations and how they build trust in AI, informing teaching methods on AI Ethics.
  • A half-day workshop at the UCL AI Centre brought both the STS and AI community together to work on questions of public participation in how AI is built, based on the work and results we gathered in our focus groups in 2022.
