Policy Research Unit in Healthy Weight

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Policy Research Unit in Healthy Weight provides world-class expertise in working with children and young people, food policy, economic modelling and research on environment and behaviour change. The unit will build the evidence base to help reduce the prevalence and burden of obesity.

The Healthy Weight Policy Research Unit (HWPRU) aims to deliver the evidence needed to help the government develop and implement policies that support people to maintain and achieve a healthy weight across the life-course, and reduce the prevalence and burden of obesity.

Co-directed by Russell Viner and Clare Llewellyn and led by UCL, it is a collaboration with Institute for Fiscal Studies, Obesity Voices, City University London, University of Liverpool, University of Birmingham, Leeds Beckett University and University of Oxford.
