New Research Project: Re-imagining Italianità
23 February 2016
Re-imagining Italianità: opera and musical culture in transnational perspective is a project funded by The Leverhulme Trust's International Network Grant. The project began on 01 February 2016 and will end on 31 January 2019.
The project, a collaboration between four partners (University College London, Brown University, Cambridge University and Universidade Estadual de Campinas), will radically reassess concepts of opera, music and Italianness during the long nineteenth century by examining contemporary discourses on music and national character; the global circulation of people, ideas and goods associated with the Italian opera industry; and through particular cities and institutions as sites of cultural encounters.
