Reminder about contracts for teaching and research staff

9 September 2024

A reminder as we move into the new academic year that staff performing teaching or research roles should be engaged on employee contracts, in line with the Teaching Concordat and the Researcher Concordat.

As we move into the busy start of session time of year again the Recruitment team have seen an increase in requests for teaching and research staff to be paid via Unitemps.

Unitemps is mainly to be used for short term contingent labour, and shouldn't be used for processing of teaching or research staff in line with the commitments in the Teaching Concordat and Research Concordat.

These agreements were put in place to protect the esteem and support the career of staff engaged in teaching and research activities.

Staff performing teaching or research roles  should be engaged on employee contracts with very few exceptions.
