The Skills Evaluation Tool (SET) has been designed to assist UCL Doctoral Researchers in assessing and enhancing their skills, knowledge, and abilities.
The primary aim of the Skills Evaluation Tool (SET) is to provide a structured approach to self-reflection and development planning, supporting Doctoral Researchers and their supervisors throughout the various stages of the doctoral journey.
By engaging with SET, Doctoral Researchers will gain valuable insights into their strengths and areas for growth, enabling them to set realistic goals and plan their development.
Regular self-reflection and development planning enables Doctoral Researchers to:
- Recognise strengths: Identify and leverage the skills, knowledge and abilities that set them apart.
- Pinpoint areas for growth: Determine the skills, knowledge and abilities that require enhancement.
- Set realistic goals: Establish clear achievable objectives that align with personal and professional aspirations.
Skills development is part of the formal doctoral review process. To learn more about training points, and how funders and UCL departments may want development to be documented, please visit the Training points: Frequently Asked Questions webpage.
