This session will explain the REF open access policy and show how to navigate Research Publication Service (RPS).
To be eligible for submission to the next REF, journal articles and conference proceedings accepted from 1 April 2016 must have been deposited in an open access repository. All researchers should upload their papers to UCL’s Research Publication Service (RPS). The session will explain the REF open access policy including exceptions from the policy. It will also provide basic RPS training, including setting up search settings and maintaining publications lists in RPS, and uploading files to the repository.
At the end of the session researchers should have understanding of the REF open access policy, and know how to navigate RPS.
Course content
This session will cover:
- the REF open access policy and what to do to comply with the policy
- exceptions in the REF open access policy
- navigating RPS (how to set up your search settings, how to use the automated claiming tool, how to add a publication, how to upload a file
- difference between Green and Gold open access
