This term, IBIL is delighted to welcome Athina Stavrou as a new member to the Institute, as a Research Assistant.

Athina Stavrou joined the IBIL team this month after graduating with distinction from UCL Faculty of Laws in September, where she completed her LLM in Competition Law. Her research focused on the intersection of competition law and intellectual property, specifically examining FRAND commitments within the context of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Prior to her studies at UCL, Athina obtained a First-Class Honours degree in Law (LLB) from Queen Mary University of London.

Athina has gained practical experience of the law through a vacation scheme at Fieldfisher in London focusing on Corporate Law and an internship at Herbert Smith Freehills in Brussels, working in the Competition, Regulation, and Trade team. She has also worked as a research assistant at the UCL Centre for Law, Economics and Society.

Athina will be working as a research assistant, supporting IBIL's co-directors with research and with administration, until she begins her training contract at Fieldfisher LLP. Everyone at IBIL is very much looking forward to working with her!
