Betty Shane

The IJS was saddened to hear of the death of Betty Shane in a fire at the age of 91. Betty was a long- time supporter of the IJS and regularly attended our lectures for many years. A Holocaust refugee, Betty was the youngest and last survivor of seven children. The family remained in Belgium until May 1940, when they fled with her aunt. Her father and brother did not survive. Betty was always interested in learning and engaging with others and her lively presence will be much missed.
