Congratulations to Professor Jan Deprest who has been elected as a member of the USA National Academy of Medicine (NAM), in recognition of his outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.

Professor Deprest was one of ten international members who have been elected to the prestigious academy, alongside 90 regular members. Established originally as the Institute of Medicine in 1970 by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine addresses critical issues in health, science, medicine, and related policy, and inspires positive actions across sectors. Election to the NAM is considered one of the highest honours in the fields of health and medicine. New members are elected by current members for major contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, health care and public health.

Professor Deprest said, “It is an incredible honour to join the National Academy of Medicine and I am humbled to have been elected. We have been fortunate to work with leading US centres and this is an opportunity to further share learning in the field of fetal disease.”
