Researching Own Practice in Education (ROPE) Group

Enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in higher education.

What we do

Established in 2022, the Researching Own Practice in Education (ROPE) group aims to cultivate a culture that values both teaching and research within the Department of Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Assessment. ROPE fosters synergies between education and research. It plays a key role in supporting academic excellence, innovation and social impact.

ROPE creates a supportive and inclusive environment for colleagues interested in using their own educational practices as a valuable and achievable context for high-quality research. Through collaboration, reflection, and inquiry, in ROPE we aim to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in higher education.

Aims of the group

The ROPE group has the following aims:

  • To encourage members to conduct research into their own teaching and learning practices in higher education.
  • To provide a platform for sharing and disseminating research findings to influence educational practices and have a wider impact.
  • To support transformative professional development by enabling educators to engage in reflective and evidence-based practices.
