The relationship between institutional strategy and undergraduate teaching in world-class universities - the case study in the United Kingdom and Mainland China
By Kaiyun Feng
Kaiyun's study is trying to provide an insight of how institutional strategy as 'plan' and 'pattern' may influence the undergraduate teaching in the context of globalisation and internationalisation of higher education. She explores this through a case study in the United Kingdom and Mainland China to shed light on the development of world-class university, the utilisation of strategy in the educational context, the quality of undergraduate teaching, and teaching and research nexus.
Supervisors: Dr Tatiana Fumasoli and Dr Vincent Carpentier.
A study of English university governing body roles - preliminary case study findings
By Alison Wheaton
Studies of university governance mostly overlook governing bodies.
Alison's research has three aims:
- to identify how the roles of English university governing bodies are characterised and indicated at sector level
- to understand how university governing body members perceive their roles and to explore what influences these perceptions
- to identify any discernible patterns and potential relationships with underlying governance theories.
She intends to share preliminary findings regarding the second research question based on findings from five university case studies.
Supervisors: Dr Tatiana Fumasoli and Dr Giulio Marini.
CHES research events
CHES research events provide a forum for academic debate, policy analysis and practice insight in higher education, supporting the exchange of theories, methods and data across social sciences.
