Holistic education is understood in varying contexts spanning ways of being (Head, Hand and Heart); social ecosystems (formal and informal learning); and curriculum architecture (inter-, multi-, trans- and meta-disciplinary approaches). Its place within both initial teacher training and continuing professional development for educators demands careful conceptualisation.

Paul will offer reflections on the practice of holism as it relates to classroom craft and teacher presence. This will include sketching a conceptual history weaving through the natural sciences and theoretical physics, and a social history skirting the pseudoscientific, as well as how holism relates to contemporary theoretical framings (including complexity theory and post-humanism).

Paul will draw on his experience as a teacher, school leader and teacher educator, to critically examine the concepts and craft of holistic education.

This in-person event will be particularly useful for teacher educators, school leaders and teachers.
