Domini Bingham is an Assistant Professor based at IOE's Centre for Educational Leadership.
What is the focus of your research?
My work is interdisciplinary – I am interested in older workers and the intersection with diversity. I am also interested in leading and managing for workplace wellbeing.
What attracted you to take up your position at IOE?
I have held a dual career in marketing, media, and teaching. I have always worked in the post-compulsory education sector with an enduring interest in lifelong learning. This then led me to a post in educational leadership at IOE’s Centre for Educational Leadership.
What do you most enjoy about your position and why?
I really enjoy engaging with my Masters and doctoral students and get a lot out of seeing them realise their potential and achieve both their personal and professional ambitions.
What's the most important thing you've learned from your students?
I work with students who in the main are juggling significant roles in education while studying. I am full of admiration for their grit and determination to achieve their aims. Studying comes at a price but is worth it.

What working achievement or initiative are you most proud of?
My research raising awareness for the challenges for older workers, closely followed by our consistently high grades for the Applied Educational Leadership MA and the Educational Leadership MBA.
How do you think being in London benefits your work?
Being right in the centre of London allows us access to many resources. Many professional bodies are located in this great city and they offer seminars, talks, and other opportunities for networking and continuing learning.
What might it surprise people to know about you?
That I was a ski representative for a winter sports holiday company.
What other subjects outside of your area of specialism interests you?
I am interested in the theoretical research methodologies which provide the underpinning for good research. Also of interest, is the positive psychology movement.
