New Professor of Translational Immunology
11 October 2022
Congratulations to Richard Lee on his promotion as Professor.
Professor Lee is clinical director of research and development at Moorfields Eye Hospital, having joined Moorfields back in 2011 to run a weekly uveitis clinic.
He established the 'Inflammation and Immunotherapy' theme of the NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre with our Director Professor Andrew D Dick, Sir Peng Tee Khaw and Phil Luthert. This became the hub for multiple collaborations to study and treat immune disorders of the eye both within the UK and internationally.
Over the last decade, Professor Lee has helped to create a standalone uveitis and scleritis service. This sits at the heart of a growing pan-London network of centres caring for adults and children with sight-threatening inflammatory eye diseases.
Richard said:
“I am wholly committed to working across UCL and Moorfields to realise the full potential of our truly world-class partnership, which Oriel embodies. I could not be more excited about our future.
